Celebrating reaching the mid-point of this spectacularly rainy week with a movie!
This week alone, not only has Netflix added one of the best superhero movies ever made, but they’ve also added one of Ireland’s biggest 2023 movies. But if neither of those suit – or you don’t have Netflix – then here are the best movies on TV tonight:
Carrie – Sky Sci-Fi – 9pm
The original adaptation of the classic Stephen King novel remains one of the best horror movies of all time.
A Quiet Place Part II – FilmFour – 11pm
Emily Blunt is joined by Cillian Murphy is this very good sequel to the world-ending, noise-sensitive horror.
Sunshine Cleaning – AMC – 10.35pm
Emily Blunt again, this time joined by Amy Adams, playing two sisters who set up a business cleaning the aftermath of crime scenes. A decent crime drama.
Titane – FilmFour – 10.50pm
Our big pick for tonight is Titane, a true example of a you-need-to-see-it-to-believe-it kind of movie. It tells the story of a woman named Alexia (brilliantly played by Agathe Rousselle), who has developed a… unique relationship with automobiles after surviving a horrendous car crash that resulted in her getting a titanium plate implanted in her skull. When she crosses paths with a fireman who lost his son years earlier, things only continue to get more insane… If you miss it tonight, Titane is also available to rent on Rakuten TV, Apple TV and the Sky Store.
The Blair Witch Project – Sky Sci-Fi – 11pm
Seriously, the final shot is still scorched into my subconscious.
The Hummingbird Project – AMC – 12.05am
Jesse Eisenberg and Alexander Skarsgard headline this mediocre thriller set in the world of stock prices.
