It’s one of the best horror comedies ever.

2012 – Film4 – 9pm

From king of disaster films Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow), 2012 centres on a frustrated writer (John Cusack) struggling to keep his family alive after a series of global catastrophes threatens to annihilate mankind.

John Carpenter’s Vampires – Sky Sci-Fi – 9pm

James Woods plays a tough vampire hunter in this solid horror western from the director of Halloween and The Thing.

Rush Hour 2 – Comedy Central – 9pm

Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan return in this hit buddy action-comedy sequel.

US Marshals – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

Tommy Lee Jones reprises the character he won an Oscar playing in The Fugitive for this mediocre spin-off.

Peacock – TG4 – 9.30pm

In this 2010 psychological thriller, a train accident in rural Nebraska gradually unveils a mystery involving the town’s quiet bank clerk (Cillian Murphy).

Rambo – ITV4 – 10pm

The extremely violent fourth entry in the saga of John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone, who also directed the movie).

Re-Animator – Horror Xtra – 10.55pm

Our pick for tonight is this ’80s horror comedy about a young mad scientist (Jeffrey Combs) who invents a serum that can re-animate dead bodies and how this impacts his roommate (Bruce Abbott) and the latter’s girlfriend (Barbara Crampton).

An adaptation of a short story by legendary horror writer H.P. Lovecraft, Re-Animator’s unique blend of dark deadpan comedy and incredibly gory effects has made it a classic for horror fans.

Wilde – BBC Four – 11pm

This British biographical drama sees Stephen Fry take on the role of legendary Irish poet and playwright Oscar Wilde.

Young Guns – Turner Classic Movies – 11.45pm

This hit Western released in the ’80s boasts an ensemble cast including Charlie Sheen, Dermot Mulroney, Emilio Estevez, Kiefer Sutherland and Lou Diamond Phillips.
