A nerve-wracking horror sequel is among the movies on TV tonight

Simon Kelly

It’s arguably better than the original.

If you’re looking for a quiet Sunday evening in front of the telly, then you’re in luck. There’s plenty of excellent movies on TV tonight.

From rip-roaring action to mystery-filled comedies, there’s a whole host of genres to choose from this evening. So, without further ado, let’s get into your options…

The Huntsman: Winter’s War – ITV2 – 6.45pm

It may be a prequel AND a sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman, but it is… not very good.

A Quiet Place Part 2 – Channel 4 – 9pm

Our pick of the movies on TV tonight is John Krasinski’s nerve-wracking horror sequel.

A Quiet Place was a real unexpected horror hit when it released in 2018. It’s follow-up, which airs on Channel 4 tonight, was just as big a hit and nearly twice as scary.

Following on from the events of the first film, A Quiet Place Part 2 follows the Abbott family as they continue to try and survive in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by blind, sound-sensitive aliens. The sequel was praised for adding more frights and world-building on top of the first flick and the excellent addition of Cillian Murphy’s character, Emmet.

If you’re looking for a unique viewing experience and a true horror-filled hour and a half, then look no further than this flick.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle – E4 – 9pm

The second outing of the spy comedy sees the Kingsman teaming up with their American counterpart, Statesman, to take down a drug cartel named, you guessed it, “The Golden Circle”.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard – FilmFour – 9pm

An average action comedy starring Ryan Reynolds as the bodyguard to Samuel L. Jackon’s hitman.

Rocky 2 – ITV4 – 9pm

Rocky’s back for a a rematch with Apollo Creed in this well regarded sequel.

Game Night -BBC 3 – 9.25pm

A quirky and twisty comedy that follows a group of friends whose game night turns into a real-life mystery after one of them is kidnapped.

A Bump Along the Way – RTÉ One – 9.30pm

Among the movies on TV tonight is this 2019 Northern Irish comedy-drama starring Bronagh Gallagher as a 44-year-old mother who must deal with an unexpected pregnancy.

Rain Man – BBC One – 10.30pm

Multiple Oscar winning drama starring Tom Cruise as a man who discovers his deceased father has left all his money to his previously unknown brother, an autistic savant played by Dustin Hoffman.

Insidious: The Last Key – FilmFour – 11.20pm

Not the best entry in the Insidious franchise but worth a rewatch if you’re heading to see The Red Door in cinemas this week
