Netflix has just added 10 big movies to its library

Rory Cashin

Channing Tatum, Robert De Niro, Zac Efron and… eh… the Undertaker from the WWE feature in newly added movies.

It has been a busy week for Netflix, between raising the prices for all Irish customers and announcing the trial of a new system that will crack down on user’s sharing their passwords with people they don’t live with.

On top of that, they’ve also just added ten big movies to their library, which we can now enjoy over the longer-than-usual bank holiday weekend…

17 AGAIN

A 37-year-old man (Matthew Perry) finds he has been magically returned to the age of 17 (Zac Efron), given the chance to change the “mistakes” he made while he was younger. A perfectly watchable comedy.

THE ADAM PROJECT

As we said in our review of this new release, how much you’ll enjoy this big budget time travel action adventure will depend A LOT on how much you enjoy Ryan Reynolds acting like Deadpool in another movie.

HAIL, CAESAR!

The Coen Brothers assemble an incredible cast – Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Alden Ehrenreich, Ralph Fiennes, Jonah Hill, Scarlett Johansson, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and Channing Tatum – for this comedy-mystery set in 1950s Hollywood.

THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY

Helen Mirren headlines this comedy-drama about two competing restaurants in a small French village. A cute enough distraction.

THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER

John McTiernan (Die Hard, Predator) directs this brilliantly tense submarine-set action movie featuring Alec Baldwin, Sean Connery and Sam Neill, with the US and Soviet army facing off in the height of the Cold War.

IT: CHAPTER TWO

The nearly three-hours-long horror sequel sees the evil clown Pennywise return to Derry (not that one) and the now grown-up kids from the first movie try to take him out once and for all.

ONE FOR THE MONEY

Katherine Heigl headlines this action-comedy about a woman who trains to become a bounty hunter. It has 2% – yes, two percent! – on Rotten Tomatoes.

STARDUST

Probably still best known for giving us Take That’s ‘Rule The World’ song, this romantic fantasy features an incredibly eclectic cast – Claire Danes, Charlie Cox, Sienna Miller, Ricky Gervais, Jason Flemyng, Rupert Everett, Peter O’Toole, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Robert De Niro – trying to help or hinder two star-crossed lovers from finding each other.

SURF’S UP 2: WAVE MANIA

There are a lot of WWE wrestlers, including John Cena, the Undertaker, Vince McMahon and Triple H, providing voice work for this animated family-friendly comedy. It also doesn’t appear to have a score on Rotten Tomatoes, and we’re not sure what to make of that.

WHIPLASH

You wouldn’t think a movie about a drum instructor and his prodigious student would be so incredibly tense. But here we are. Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons star.
