Netflix reveals most people do this one thing after binge-watching a TV series

Carl Kinsella

Five years ago, words like ‘Netflix’ and ‘binge-watch’ wouldn’t have even been on our radar.

Now, they need no explanation at all. This week, streaming service Netflix released data on the viewing habits of its users — revealing that many Netflix-watchers share the same trait when it comes to finishing a TV series.

Usually, when somebody reaches the end of binge-watching a whole television series, rather than move onto another series they’ll watch a movie instead.

According to the data, 59 percent of their users take a break after watching a television series, and of those who take a break 61% watch a movie.

Netflix even went so far as to release which movies people are most likely to watch after each series. For example, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Clueless are most likely to follow Gossip Girl.

Harder to explain is that after a Stranger Things marathon, viewers are more likely to check out Adam Sandler’s Big Daddy, or Zootopia. Some comedic relied to pull them back from the Upside Down, perhaps.
