New investigative documentary from Netflix looks gripping

Stephen Porzio

It follows a group of investors turned sleuths investigating the death of a cryptocurrency multimillionaire.

We’re early into 2022 but Netflix has already released a number of high-profile documentaries, such as The Puppet Master, The Tinder Swindler and Worst Roommate Ever.

Meanwhile, arriving on the streaming service on Wednesday is Bad Vegan, a four-part docuseries exploring how a celebrity restaurateur went from being the queen of vegan cuisine to being known as the “vegan fugitive”.

However, on top of all these, Netflix will release a new documentary film titled Trust No One: The Hunt for the Crypto King later this month.

The streamer says Trust No One will follow a group of investors turned sleuths as they try to unlock the suspicious death of cryptocurrency multimillionaire Gerry Cotten and the missing $250 million they believe he stole from them.

The plot synopsis from the streamer reads:

“In the paranoid world of cryptocurrency there’s only one rule – Trust No One. So when Gerry Cotten, the CEO of Canada’s largest Cryptocurrency exchange QuadrigaCX, dies in mysterious circumstances, he takes the password to $250 million of customers’ funds to the grave.

“A group of horrified investors refuse to accept the official narrative. They believe Gerry’s ‘death’ has all the hallmarks of an ‘exit scam,’ that he is still alive and has run off with their money.

“This is the thrilling story of their investigation into a dark world where no one and nothing is what it seems.

“Will they be able to unravel the mystery at the heart of Quadriga, find Gerry Cotten, and finally get their money back?”

Intrigued? Well, Trust No One will premiere on Netflix on 30 March.
