Where does this entry rank for you in the franchise?

JOE has already compiled a list of the best spooky movies on TV this Halloween weekend here, including Saturday’s offerings of the original Halloween and The Exorcist, as well as Ireland’s own The Hole in the Ground.

However, for those looking for non-scary fare, here is what is on the box this evening.

Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit – Sky Showcase – 7.15pm

A supernatural comedy classic that both adults and children can enjoy this Halloween.

The Great Wall – Channel 4 – 8.55pm

Dalkey legend Matt Damon leads the cast of this ancient China-set adventure flick about soldiers defending the Great Wall of China against a horde of monstrous creatures.

Thor: Ragnarok – RTÉ2 – 9pm

In our pick for this evening, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) must escape the alien planet where he is being kept prisoner and return to his homeworld of Asgard to save it from the villainous Hela (Cate Blanchett).

Undisputedly the best of the Thor trilogy to date, this MCU entry from director Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows) boasts tons of humour, while at the same time upping the stakes and making its central hero more vulnerable and therefore, compelling.

On top of this, it features an ace cast including new series additions Jeff Goldblum, Karl Urban and Tessa Thompson.

Hitman: Agent 47 – Film Four – 9pm

The second movie adaptation based on the popular game series.

Maximum Risk – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

While seeking answers regarding the death of the twin brother he never knew he had, a French cop (Jean-Claude Van Damme) and his sibling’s fiancée (Natasha Henstridge) find themselves pursued by corrupt FBI agents and the Russian mafia.

Collateral – 10pm – ITV4

From Heat director Michael Mann, this incredibly taut thriller takes place all over the one night an ordinary taxi driver (Jamie Foxx) picks up a hitman (Tom Cruise).

World War Z – Channel 4 – 10.55pm

Based on the popular novel of the same name, Brad Pitt stars in what is arguably the biggest zombie film of all time.

Revolver – Comedy Central – 11pm

Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie re-teamed for this critically panned crime thriller in 2005, which has since garnered a small cult following.

Escape from Alcatraz – TG4 – 11.05pm

Clint Eastwood leads the cast of this great 70’s thriller which dramatises the 1962 prisoner escape from the maximum-security prison on Alcatraz Island.
