It’s nice to see that there’s a certain symmetry between the changing plans that George R.R Martin had for his Song of Fire and Ice series and the eventual fortunes that befell his characters in the superb books and the wonderful TV show Game of Thrones.
Spoiler alert but we’re certain that Ned Stark had nice plans to grow old in Winterfell with a nice pair of slippers, that the guests at the Red Wedding would actually get to see their dessert and that Tywin wouldn’t meet his maker whilst having his jocks wrapped around his ankles.
Things change in Westeros but its also comforting to see that the series’ writer George R.R. Martin also had to alter his own original plans for the series as seen by this ‘pitch’ to his publisher.
Game of Thrones fans will find some of these details really interesting.
