We’re sure this will put an end to the matter…
You may remember that there was some controversy during the week when Sky News journalist Richard Suchet claimed Saoirse Ronan for Britain.
Even in the days after, he defended himself on Twitter as people sought for him to retract his statement, but Suchet didn’t back down.
Then finally today, Suchet took to Twitter to give an apology to Saoirse, clear up the fact that Britain can’t claim her and he even put in a nice line about hoping she wins.
Is all forgiven?
On Saoirse, I apologise. It came out wrong. I know the UK can't claim her, of course. But the British would love to see her win for Ireland.
