RTÉ’s Prime Time will have a special episode on the Brussels attacks tonight

Tony Cuddihy

The question of how European countries can defend themselves against terrorism will be front and centre.

More than 40 people are believed to have been killed in attacks on Zaventem Airport in Brussels, as well as a Metro station at Maalbeek in the city.

All public transport in Brussels is currently shut down.

Meanwhile, blood donations are being sought in Brussels.

A special edition of RTÉ’s Prime Time will be broadcast on Tuesday evening in the wake of the attacks in Belgium.

It will ask how European capitals can defend themselves against these violent attacks, with 130 people also having died in tragic circumstances in Paris last November.
