Sideshow Bob will finally get to kill Bart in The Simpsons

Well it’s about bloody time.

Sideshow Bob will achieve a lifelong ambition when he gets to kill Bart Simpson in an upcoming episode of the too long-running series.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer of The Simpsons, Al Jean, said that having always wanted the Coyote to catch the Road Runner at some point in the classic Looney Tunes cartoon, he wasn’t about to let the same thing happen in The Simpsons.

Referring to Bob’s numerous foiled attempts to kill Bart, Jean said: “I hated frustration comedy so we’ll scratch that itch.”

Fans of The Simpsons worried that another major character was about to be killed off so soon after it was revealed that Harry Shearer, the voice of Mr. Burns and Principal Skinner amongst others, would be leaving the show should rest assured, however, as Bart won’t be gone for long.

Bob’s execution of Bart will take place in one of the show’s Halloween specials, the events of which have little to no impact on the show as a whole.

Previous attempts by Sidehow Bob (voiced by Kelsey Grammer, who is likely to return as Bob once again) to kill Bart have led to some of the show’s best episodes.

They did take place during the show’s peak years, however and many fans won’t be holding their breath that this episode can reach the same quality of what’s gone before.

It’ll be nice to see Bob back once again all the same, especially if there are rakes in the way.
