WATCH: Contestant on The Bachelor goes to some bizarre lengths to try and secure a date

Rudi Kinsella

Single people of the world: take note. This is how you stand out.

Have you ever made something up to try and impress someone that you fancy?

Don’t even answer that. We already know the answer.

Normally it’s something harmless like how often you go to the gym, or how much money you’ve got in your wallet…

But we’d like to think that you haven’t ever taken it this far for the sake of a date.

On a recent episode of The Bachelor, one female contestant met a man that she obviously had an interest in, and immediately he was hooked.

Once he heard her voice, he was interested, asking where her accent was from. She calmly responds “The accent is Australian. I was kinda hoping you were a sucker for accents.”

He says he loves it, and it looks like we’re well on our way to a happy ending.

But then, we see the plot twist of the century. Have a look for yourself:

Yep. She was putting on the accent to “try and stand out”, as she put it herself.

Fair play to her. It’s a dog eat dog world out there, and every now and again you have to fake an Australian accent to succeed. That’s just life.

Naturally, people on Twitter have found it absolutely hilarious. One viewer even pointed out how cleverly she chose her words, by saying that the accent was Australian, and not that she was…
