The very tense thriller stars an Oscar winner.
Our TV movie pick for tonight is The Call, the absolutely breakneck thriller from 2013 starring Oscar-winner Halle Berry.
In the film, she plays Jordan, a veteran operator for an emergency call-centre who saves lives daily as part of her job.
“When a young woman’s frantic report of a prowler ends tragically, Jordan is devastated. She decides to pack it in on the front lines and instead teach others the ropes of the high-pressure job,” the plot synopsis reads.
“But when a call from a kidnapped teen (Abigail Breslin) comes in, Jordan takes charge as never before and turns the girl into a partner in helping to save her life.”
Also co-starring Morris Chestnut (Boys n the Hood), Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos) and a very scary Michael Eklund (Bates Motel), The Call was directed by B-movie maestro Brad Anderson (The Machinist, TransSiberian and Session 9).
And it’s well-worth a look thanks to its gripping story, propulsive direction and great performances all around.
The Call is airing on TV tonight on Virgin Media One. It is also available to rent on Apple TV, Google Play, Microsoft, Rakuten TV and the Sky Store.
