This figure is pretty high…
We’ve all been there when an unexpected knock comes to the door and you panic, why is this uninvited person at my house? What do they want?
You won’t go directly to the door, you’ll try and carefully glance out a window because for some reason the first person Irish people now think of when that happens is the TV Licence Inspector.
All of us in JOE have definitely paid our TV Licence, 100%, we’re sorted, so there’s no need to call over to our place *laughs uncomfortably* but it seems a whole load of people haven’t paid theirs and have been fined.
New figures from the courts service show that 14,000 people were prosecuted for not paying their TV licence.
If you haven’t paid for yours yet, you can by clicking here because let’s be honest, how can you live your life without Fair City and The Late Late Show…
Some other fine-related statistics have also been released as it’s been revealed that almost 700 people were prosecuted for dodging fares and using fake travel passes last year.
Hat-tip to Irish Examiner.
