Rudi Kinsella

This is the definition of a star-studded lineup.

Back in November, we shared the news that Misfits and Love/Hate star Robert Sheehan would be playing one of the main characters in a brand new Netflix series in 2019.

The Umbrella Academy is based on the popular comics written by Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance fame, and based on both the trailer and the cast, it looks like it’s going to be class.

The cast consists of Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-LampmanDavid Castañeda, Aidan Gallagher, Cameron Britton, Mary J. Blige and Robert Sheehan, so you can understand our excitement.

As far as the plot goes, the year is 1989, and 43 babies have been inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before.

Seven of them are adopted by a billionaire who begins training them to to save the world, as you do. But not everything went according to plan as, in their teenage years, the family fractured and the team disbanded.

The show will follow the six surviving members of the family, who are now in their 30s as they work together to try and solve the mystery around their father’s death.

But the estranged family begins to come apart due to their divergent personalities and abilities, not to mention the imminent threat of a global apocalypse.
