Actor Marc Anwar, best known for playing Sharif Nazir on beloved soap opera Coronation Street, has been sacked for the show after posting racist tweets to his Twitter account.
Anwar, who was born in Pakistan, launched into a tirade against Indian people on his Twitter account – referring to them as “p*ss-drinking c*nts” and accusing them of killing Pakistanis.
Anwar also suggested that Pakistani people who choose to work in India “love money so much.”
The actor, 45, also accused Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of “sucking” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Fucking #indians killing our #Kashmir brothers and sisters, beygairth #NawazSharif still sucking #modi.”
“Ban india movies in #PakistanisLeaveIndia. Piss-drinking c*nts.”
“Why the fuck do #pakistaniartists want to work in #india, do you love money so much?”
Unsurprisingly, ITV sacked Anwar within hours, saying
“We are deeply shocked by the entirely unacceptable, racially offensive comments made on Twitter by Marc Anwar. We have talked to Marc and, as a consequence of his comments, he will not be returning to Coronation Street with immediate effect.”
