A truly iconic Irish quiz show is back on TV and they’re looking for families to star in it

Paul Moore

Do you and your family fancy starring on Where in the World? Now’s your chance.

In the grand pantheon of iconic Irish TV shows, Where in the World? ranks very highly. Much like Glenroe, Know Your Sport or The Den, the quiz show that was presented by Marty Whelan and Theresa Lowe was a stalwart for Irish viewers during the 80’s & 90’s.

For those of you that might not be familiar with it, the show featured two teams of four, usually made up of two families, that had to answer a series of geography-based questions.

Can you remember the rounds?

Head to Head, observations, mixed bag, anagrams, 60 seconds, the quick fire round and finally, the Winner’s Way.

Ah, the Winner’s Way. The highly pressurised environment when one contestant had to select a box and then answer questions that were based upon the five continents; Asia, Europe, America, Africa and Australia.

Here’s a little reminder of what the show was like.

Theresa Lowe will a guest on The Ray D’Arcy Show this weekend and they are bringing the famous Sunday night quiz programme back.

Producers are looking for families to take part in this fun quiz, and if you think that you and your family has what it takes, please email whereintheworld@rte.ie

Best of luck!
