20 eggs a day? Gareth is some man for one man.
Despite his rather odd dietary habits, the women of Ireland collectively swooned at the sight of him, especially when he was moved to tears while talking about his kids.
All in all, it was a quite successful episode of First Dates, with a number of the couples getting on famously and some of them – including Ciaran and Katie and Eoghan and Karen – taking their relationship beyond their first encounter at the Gibson Hotel.
Coming as it did directly after the Eurovision, it was the perfect thing to cheer TV viewers up following the disappointment of Ireland missing out on a place in this weekend’s final.

#FirstDatesIreland thank god for discos and slow sets in the 1990s. Don't think I would survive in the current dating scene.
