A pretty positive response.
TV3’s highly-anticipated new soap Red Rock aired earlier tonight.
The trailers in the lead-up to its debut had been pretty stunning so expectations were quite high.
Here’s how Irish people on Twitter reacted to the first episode.
Enjoyed #RedRock. Zipped thru setups/created a sense of a world from the off. it's nicely shot avoiding staginess that can plague soaps too

So what's the moral of the story in tv land???
If your name is Darren, you're goosed! #NotAnotherDarren #RedRock @TV3Ireland

They could do with a few more light bulbs on #RedRock #TV3 The lighting was very gloomy-in the pub/hospital/Hennessy house

#RedRock shaping up to be a good watch. At least three good plot lines.

Not sure about #RedRock . Going to give it a few more episodes before I make my mind up.
— Sandra Hennessy (@SandraHennessy) January 7, 2015
Have to hand it to @TV3Ireland #RedRock not bad not bad at all better than #faircity but then again a 5 year old with a camera could make it

The only thing I can take from tv3s Red Rock is that it rhymes with smelly sock…. #RedRock #TV3 #smellysock

Hey Kielys, ye are dragging our good name through the mud, on national television no less! #RedRock

Very impressed with 1st episode of #redrock @TV3Ireland Liked the feel of it and good script, quality acting. A soap/drama hybrid #goodstart
— Mark O'Brien (@obrienmark) January 7, 2015
Confidently reserved beginning. Could have been all screams and shouts. It's gonna be great. #RedRock
— Shaun A. Dunne (@SeanieLove) January 7, 2015
Good to see @TV3Ireland fight back, produce some decent home grown drama and show that they're not completely reliant on UK shows #RedRock
— Niall O'Keeffe (@NiallOK) January 7, 2015
Probably the worst show I've ever seen #lovehate is a different league #RedRock
— Terence Pierce QFA (@StabilityFin) January 7, 2015
I'll give that auld #RedRock another go. Not bad at all for a first effort. Good acting, a storyline to hook you in. #WorthAnotherGo

I think #RedRock is set inside a harmonica
— Aaron Casey (@AzzaBagdad) January 7, 2015
Gonna buy a harmonica, learn that theme tune, and play it at highly inappropriate moments. #RedRock
— Valerie Loftus (@valerieloftus) January 7, 2015
They blew it with the comedy harmonica ending #RedRock
— Mark McCarthy (@BuddyLomax) January 7, 2015
Ok. I'm not a fan of police drama series. They're normally inaccurate but this #RedRock looks pretty spot on. I'll give it a few more goes.
— John (@JohnDelea) January 7, 2015
Love #RedRock, Jane McGrath was brilliant. The sleazy harmonica needs to go #ditchthethemetune
— Niamh McHugh (@niamhmchugh) January 7, 2015
So, mostly pretty positive except for the harmonica. The people over at TV3 will be happy enough with that.
