Video: BBC reporter accidentally interrupts debate when his iPad blares out ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’

Well this is embarrassing...

Well this is embarrassing…

During a live debate this afternoon on a BBC show called Daily Politics, the usual mix of politicians, commentators and journalists were in all present and correct. The debate was on the subject of bankers and their bonuses but the discussion between two MPs, Tory MP Shailesh Vara and Labour’s Caroline Flint, was interrupted in a most unusual fashion.

Also sitting in on the debate was the BBC’s top political reporter Nick Robinson. But Robinson’s iPad sparked into life right in the middle of the discussion, and it did so with the opening bars of Queen’s ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’. As he points out, he managed to stop the song before it got to any really embarrassing lyrics but the damage was already done as he squirmed in his seat.

Robinson clarified later this evening that the song isn’t a ringtone, it was just on his iPad and started playing for some as yet unknown reason. We bet he turns off his tablet before he goes on the box next time.

And here’s the full song, if you’re interested…
