The Iceman is the latest biographical thriller about Richard Kuklinski, a notorious contact killer and family man from New York. Kuklinski claimed to have killed between 100 and 250 people between 1948 and 1986, some for sport, others for the mafia as a contact hitman.

He lived in New Jersey with his wife Deborah (played by Winona Ryder) and his kids until his conviction in 1988. Chris Evans plays an unrecognizable Robert Pronge, another killer who drove an icecream truck as disguise and reportedly taught Kuklinski about how to use cyanide.

The real life interviews of Kuklinski are a harrowing tale, so we expect this movie to use a lot of his own recollections. There will probably be little need for Hollywood exaggeration seeing as some of his methods included beating to death, shooting, poisoning, burning, sealing in a barrel and having it crushed. Reportedly the serial killer used to practice murder on Hell’s kitchen bums as police thought they were killing each other.

The Iceman also stars Ray Liotta as Roy Demeo, a crime boss and James Franco, David Schwimmer and Stephen Dorff as Kuklinski’s brother, Joey.

Release date June 7 in Ireland.
