The Company You Keep is the new thriller by Robert Redford with a host of stars filling the screen including Brendan Gleeson

Robert Redford’s new thriller The Company You Keep is a who’s who of Hollywood stars – Redford himself, Shia LeBeouf, Brendan Gleeson, Susan Sarandon, Anna Kendrick, Terrence Howard, Stanley Tucci, Nick Nolte and Richard Jenkins. Guess you don’t say no to Redford.
The script was written by Lem Dobbs based on the 2003 novel of the same name by Neil Gordon. LeBeouf plays Ben Shepherd, an aggressive young reporter trying to find out the truth about an anti-Vietnam war militant group who robbed a bank in the 1970s. Shepherd exposes Jim Grant (Redford) as the person responsible for a death of a security guard in the bank and who has been on the run for thirty years.

Grant is a single father to an 11-year-old girl and a recent widower. Grant goes on the run to clear his name, seeking an ex-lover, the only one who can reveal the truth.
Susan Sarandon and Julie Christie play former anti-war activists while Terrance Howard and Anna Kendrick play FBI agents on the case. Brendan Gleeson is a retired chief of police who investigated the bank robbery in the 70s.
Redford is 77 this year, and it’s rather odd that he has a fictional 11-year-old daughter (he’d have been 66 when she was born). Although if Elton John can do it in real life, fair enough.
This is the ninth movie directed by Redford, who also founded the Sundance Film Festival in Utah.
The Company You Keep is due for release on June 7.
