“TV3 took a less Chitty Chitty, more shitty shitty approach.”
If the Twitter reaction is anything to go by, tonight’s episode of Republic of Telly was one of the best-received in quite some time with the likes of SureLook, F**k it’ll be Grand Designs and, of course, Bridget and Eamon entertaining the watching audience.
As well as that, host Kevin McGahern also weighed up the merits of the two Toy Shows on Irish screens over the last week or so: the Late Late Toy Show that everyone knows and loves and the TV3 version that, well, didn’t enjoy quite the same acclaim from the Irish public.
The shows were compared under categories such as celebrity appearances (Niall Horan and Ed Sheeran v Bill Cullen and Glenda Gilson), opening entrances (see introductory paragraph above) and contributions of the guests (young martial arts lady v Bill Cullen’s Lego dealership) and it’s no real surprise which one came out on top.
Better luck next year TV3.
