Tom Cruise stars with Morgan Freeman in Oblivion – a new science fiction post-apocalypse movie set in 2073. The storyline sees Cruise as Jack Harper, an ex-Marine commander and drone repairman on a destroyed planet earth. Sixty years before, an alien invasion left earth in a state that makes it seemingly inhabitable.
Based on the Radical Comics sci-fi novel ‘Oblivion,’ Harper is nearing the end of his mission to fix the drones that patrol the sky and retract resources. The human race currently lives in airborne towns built in the skies thousands of feet above.
Jack’s world is turned upside down when he rescues a female stranger from a crashed spacecraft. Enter Morgan Freeman as a rebel leader, and all is not what it seems.
From the director of TRON and Planet of the Apes, Joseph Kosinski’s sci-fi action feature also stars Andrea Riseborough (Shadow Dancer), Melissa Leo (The Fighter) and Zoe Bell (Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters).
Release date April 19, 2013.
