VIDEO: This is why University Challenge was trending in Ireland on Monday night

We know what it sounded like, but it turns out we didn’t get the most stupid quiz answer in the history of television.

On first listen, it sounds like Boyle from Edinburgh names an island in the Baltic Sea as Ireland, prompting an incredulous Jeremy Paxman to pause for a moment before saying “no.”

However, we’re fairly certain he actually said Åland, a region of Finland that is also in the Baltic Sea, leaving us disappointed that we hadn’t just witnessed the dumbest act since someone decided to greenlight a sequel to The Matrix.

Incidentally, the correct answer was Gotland, a large Swedish island.
