The Notebook is one of those ridiculously sappy films that girls go on about all the time. She wants you to be Ryan Gosling (hell, who doesn’t want to be Ryan Gosling…but in Drive or Gangster Squad, not The frickin’ Notebook).
Nicholas Sparks, writer of the book that The Notebook movie is based on, has a lot to answer for. High expectations of romance for one. And don’t get us started on the stuff about him building an entire house to prove his love. Pah.
Anyway, the next time your missus suggests The Notebook on movie night, you can swiftly shut her up by showing her this honest trailer, which points out a few nasty home truths about it. Just don’t expect her to be pleased about it…
