The Roscommon man is going for a very strange gold.
Chris O’Dowd’s meteoric rise doesn’t show any signs of slowing down because the star of The IT Crowd, Moone Boy and Bridesmaids has a new film coming soon on Netflix and it has a very impressive comedic pedigree.
Mascots is a new comedy from Christopher Guest, director of the cult-favourites A Mighty Wind and Best in Show, and it features an array of wonderful comedic talent. Guest’s regular troupe of actors are in this one with Jane Lynch, Parker Posey, Fred Willard, Ed Begley, Jr and Jennifer Coolidge all starring among others.
The film takes place in the ultra-competitive world of sports mascots where everyone competes for the most prestigious award in the field, the Gold Fluffy. We’re hoping that O’Dowd gets to channel some of that competitive spirit that earned him a place in the Roscommon minor squad.
Mascots comes to Netflix on 13 October.
