The group received the only standing ovation of the night.
An Irish group has wowed audiences of the new series of Das Supertalent (Germany’s Got Talent) so much so that they’ve made it all the way to the live final next Saturday.
Dúlamán: Voice of the Celts is an Irish singing and dancing act made up of four male singers and 11 Irish dancers from across the country. Due to their continued success on the show, the 15-strong act has also secured a deal with Sony music.
On the back of this, their album is due for worldwide release on Friday.
Dúlamán particularly impressed Das Supertalent’s judge Dieter Bohlen when they performed one of his most famous hits, Cheri Cheri Lady, as Gaeilge. Bohlen reached high levels of fame in Germany back in the ’80s as part of the duo Modern Talking.
Show co-creator Seán McCarthy spoke to JOE about why they chose Germany to perform in:
”We reached out to a well-known manager in Germany called Rainer Hackl and together we decided to enter the competition to try to build the name of the show in Germany. It’s not something that has ever featured on Das Supertalent before.
When we got through to the first televised round in September we were delighted. Everything went really fast from there. Since that first round, we’ve booked a 20 date tour of Germany for January with tickets on sale and have been signed by Sony Music. It’s been a whirlwind to now. ”
The group has since filmed a music video in Glendalough, County Wicklow with a German video and production crew for the album release, which will debut on BILD on Friday 15 December.
