No messing with the New Orleans rose.
Even if you’re not a regular wedding goer, you’re probably familiar with the ritual of the bride throwing a bouquet of flowers over her shoulder in the direction of her single friends and relatives.
An age-old custom, it is believed that romantic luck will be bestowed upon the one who catches the bouquet and though it’s merely superstition, it can often be the cause of a pretty aggressive scrum during the wedding reception.

Something similar happened on the final night of the 2016 Rose of Tralee on Tuesday night and when the bouquet was launched into the audience, there was one contestant who was determined to get her hands on it, no matter what the opposition.
New Orleans rose Shannon Marie Burke wasn’t about to make any apologies either, it was her bouquet and nobody else was getting their hands on it.
God help her boyfriend…no messing with this wan!!!. #RoseofTralee pic.twitter.com/o1SbzM59R9
