The Mrs Brown’s Boys star made a hell of a gesture on Radio 1 this morning…

We think it’s fair to say that Brendan O’Carroll is one of the country’s best loved comics. Whether you love it or hate it, his show Mr Brown’s Boys has been one of the biggest success stories in Irish television in a very long time. It’s won numerous BAFTA, IFTA, TV Choice and National Television Awards, it really is phenomenal.

Brendan himself seems like a really great guy and he further enhanced his reputation on RTE Radio 1 this morning. The Dubliner was the guest host of The Marian Finucane Show, as Marian herself was on holiday, and he made an unreal gesture to one of the listeners.

A caller rang in explaining that he was in trouble financially and he was trying to bounce back and to setup a new business but didn’t quite have the money to get it off the ground.

Brendan being the incredibly sound man that he is stepped up and offered the guest some help: “You know what Eddie, I’m very, very lucky. I had a movie open this week which is going to make me a fortune.

“I will put €30,000 on front of you and see if that idea works.

“And if we can make this idea work, you being 61 and me being 50-ish, we show exactly what two old men can do.”

Here’s the full conversation as it happened on RTE this morning…

That is one of the soundest things we’ve heard in a long time. Brendan is currently promoting his new movie “Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie”.
