7 musical collaborations that just worked

JOE

Some collaborations just work.

Whether it be spaghetti and meatballs, Bacardi and coke or JOE and Conor McGregor’s arse; some combos have just cracked it.

CONORMCGREGOR

Here’s the musical equivalent…

Dirty Projectors and David Byrne – Knotty Pine

The former Talking Heads’ front man has collaborated with more artists than we could count. This is our favourite; a twangy little indie tune which sounds exactly like summer should.

Crystal Castles and Robert Smith – Not in Love

One of the most progressive electro-indie acts of our generation and the former front-man of the Cure. This one was never going to go wrong.

Run DMC feat. Aerosmith – Walk this Way

The standard bearer for collaborations. This saw both bands performing to their limit to produce a track that’s still getting regular air-time.

Kanye West and Bon Iver – Lost In The World

Not many saw this one coming, a loud mouth rapper with an understated indie artist. Yet it happened and you know what? It was pretty darn good.

Queen and David Bowie – Under Pressure

It’s a song that’s been butchered many, many times since, but the original is just magic.

Daft Punk feat. Pharrell Williams & Nile Rodgers – Get Lucky

We all danced to this, every last one of us. A great pop tune… miles ahead of that tripe Willams produced with Robin Thicke.

Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson – Say, say, say

Before these two fell out over financial matters, they produced this classic.

Here’s another great combination: Bacardi and this summer’s best music festivals.
