One more tune, one more tune…

Sad news has reached JOE’s desk because one of Cork’s most well-known venues ‘The Pavilion’ has announced via its official Twitter account that it has closed its doors for the final time.

There had been no indication that a closure was imminent and the news has prompted a massive reaction on social media from bands and music fans alike who will clearly miss the venue.

No reasons have been given for the closure and the venue still has a number of bands listed on the events section of its website including talented Dublin rockers Girl Band. This is what the venue had to say regarding the closure.

Franz Ferdinand, Laura Marling, Mick Flannery and even Kanye West were just some acts to have played in the famous venue recently along with a host of the finest musical talent that Ireland has to offer.

The venue has been entertaining Corkonians since 1921 and was named the Munster Live Venue of the Year award in 2010. Here is how some people reacted on twitter.

JOE would like to wish everyone involved with the famous venue the very best of luck with the future. You’ll be missed guys.
