Eminem sends warning to fans listening to his new album

JOE

Slim Shady might be gone, but Eminem is back.

Eminem’s new album has been labelled ‘the best album of the decade’ by some fans of the rapper online after his latest music was released on Friday.

Titled ‘The Death of Slim Shady  (Coup de Grâce)’ the release is the legendary rapper’s 12th studio album and some fans think it’s some of his best work yet. The critics’ reviews of the album, however, have been mixed.

The album features 19 tracks including already released singles Tobey and Houdini, as well as a sequel to his 1999 hit Guilty Conscience with Dr Dre which Billboard ranked highly saying, “It’s not the original, but is a worthy second coming”.

In his latest release, Eminem’s alter ego, Slim Shady, is killed off as the artwork on the album cover shows Shady in a body bag.

Meanwhile, in the music video for Tobey, Eminem takes a chainsaw to him, symbolically putting an end to the iconic character.

Fans have been raving about the 51-year-olds newest instalment on social media with many calling the album one of the best of the decade.

The album is a deep dive into the psyche of Eminem‘s notorious alter ego, Slim Shady, which explores themes of rebirth, inner turmoil, and resolution.

The track list was unveiled by Apple Music on July 10, just two days prior to the album’s release.

However, the rapper issued a warning to his fans on the eve of its release.

On X, he wrote: “Public service announcement: the “death of slim shady” is a conceptual album, therefore, if you listen to songs out of order they might not make sense. Enjoy.”

The rapper from Detroit, Michican, is one of the biggest artists of all time, and the best selling rapper having sold over 220 million records.

His last album, Music to Be Murdered By, was released in 2020.
