Another day, another Hozier story and another incredible achievement for the Wicklow singer.
Andrew Hozier Byrne has come a long way from his days as the lead singer of the Trinity Orchestra because he has just been announced as Spotify’s Spotlight Breakout Star of 2014.
Hozier was first nominated as a Spotlight artist in late 2013, and has been championed by Spotify ever since, which has contributed to his phenomenal success this year.
His breakout track, Take Me To Church, has now spent more than 48 weeks in Spotify’s viral chart, making it the Most Viral Track of the Year and it’s currently number 1 in Spotify’s global chart.
The song has probably been heard more times this year around the world that Happy Birthday.
If that wasn’t enough of an endorsement then he was also nominated for a Grammy in the Song of the Year category.
Hozier now has more than 150 million streams on Spotify from more than 10 million unique listeners and he seemed rather pleased with his latest achievement.

The Spotlight on 2015 list for the UK includes some incredible up-and-coming artists that JOE has already featured such as Coasts, James Bay and Raury.
Since he has already conquered the world we assume that Hozier’s next career step will be to perform in space.
2015 should be interesting for the world’s most famous breakout talent.
