By Adrian Collins

This is the latest effort from the lads of the Gaslight Anthem, and they just keep getting better. They’re also playing here in a couple of weeks, so it gives you time to get familiar with their work before heading to the concert on June 17th.

You’ll definitely hear the influence of Bruce Springsteen in this, the lads are pretty open about that, and the Boss himself has declared that he’s a pretty big fan, even performing their song ’59 Sound’ with them on stage the odd time, which is a pretty great sight to see.

Handwritten is a bit more of an evolution, and Brian Fallon’s lyrics are still as meaningful ever, but the sound is slightly heavier than it has been before, but don’t worry, it’s not heavy metal or anything.

Don’t take our word for it, instead check out our favourite track off the album, ’45’.

If you’re downloading this album you’ll want a serious broadband connection with speeds of up to 70mb, so check out the good lads at Magnet, who will be filling your fatpipe in no time with all the best in music and entertainment.
