JOE’s Song Of The Day #670: CARRON ‘Even Sad Birds Sing’

Eric Lalor

CARRON are sisters doing it for themselves.

CARRON are two sisters Méabh and Mella Carron from Dublin who write songs about life, love, and family. Starting out as an effort to heal after over a year of extended hospital stays, invasive surgeries, and traumatic uncertainties, they eventually developed into a vessel for their kinship – a project they can share, shape, and learn from together.

Their last single ‘Battle Lines’ was released last June reaching No. 1 in the iTunes Singer/Songwriter charts, followed by stand-out performances at Electric Picnic, Groove Festival, YouBloom, Bloom in the Park, Ruby Sessions, and a headliner in The Workman’s Club in Dublin. After taking a break for some much-needed self-reflection and life living, CARRON are back to take on the next years with new music, new energy, and new priorities.

It’s an infectious pop melody which will inevitably end up as an earworm, there is no escape. The sisters’ voices compliment each other beautifully and the harmonies are pitch perfect.

In their music and song-writing, they aim to create a sense of one united female voice that is amplified by the strength of their sibling bond, to blend impeccable harmonies through shared blood, and to subtly nod toward their Irish heritage and backgrounds in musical theatre whilst maintaining a contemporary and powerful sound.

They are doing a live show in the Grand Social in Dublin on 5 December. There are plans for a lot more new music over the next year so keep posted via their Facebook page right here.
