JOE’s Song Of The Day #638: Somewhere Under Oceans ‘Indian Summer’

Eric Lalor

Somewhere Under Oceans are a band to keep an eye on.

Somewhere Under Oceans are a new band based hailing from around Mullingar, made up of Felicity Moran (vocals), Gerard Wayne Doyle (guitar), Cecelia Gavigan (synth/vocals), Mary Conmy (guitar/vocals), Ciarán Fagan (bass) and  Geraldine Craft Pinson (drums).

Somewhere Under Oceans

All hailing from areas around the Midlands, the band have been busy rehearsing and writing songs. Upon assembling the band together, they went into the studio with Leo Logan in Vibes Studios in Leitrim.

Ciaran tells us that they decided at that point to begin basing themselves out of Mullingar where he, Gerard and Cecelia are all from originally, as they felt much more connected to the music scene there than in Dublin.

The song ‘Indian Summer’ is about being in a relationship with someone you love dearly but feeling you’re not good enough for them. It’s about overcoming those negative thoughts and having belief in your own worth as a person.

It’s a very catchy big sound from a new band and marks them down as a band with a lot of potential.

The band plan on recording more material in the coming months and you can catch them gigging in Roscommon on 21 September at JJ Harlow’s. Keep posted on any developments by checking out their Facebook page right here.
