Mad stuff Ted: Australia is going to compete in this years Eurovision. Australia.

We see a glaring problem here

Paul Moore

We see a glaring problem here.

JOE reckons that Kylie Minogue and Will Genia are all singing this evening with the news that Australia has just been announced as the latest participant in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest which is set to take place on 19, 21 and 23rd of May in Vienna.

While we didn’t quite get our hands on that geography PHD we’re fairly certain that Oz is nowhere near Europe, not to mention the northern hemisphere.

We were instantly reminded of this.

Eurovision purists and legends like Johnny Logan must be fuming with this recent development but then again, when did logic ever prevail at the Eurovision?

The event is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and it seems that the organisers are following through on their theme of ‘Building Bridges’.

It’s not all good news for Australia though because even if they won the contest, the ‘land down under’ wouldn’t be able to host the event the following year because their participation is intended as a one-off.

Only in the event of a victory will Australia be allowed to send a participant to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2016. Colour us shocked if they end up winning this year.

While this news seems absolutely bonkers, it can only be a good thing for Ireland’s chances especially with all the Irish living in Oz right now.

If they don’t give us maximum points then we might be feeling like this.
