“I realise now he was saying goodbye.”
David Bowie’s death at the age of 69 overnight has had a profound effect on the music world, with tributes flowing in from far and wide for one of the most influential musicians of all time.
Brian Eno, an accomplished musician himself and one of the most famous music producers ever, collaborated with Bowie on a number of occasions and when paying tribute to him today, he revealed that they had been planning to revisit a project they had started about a year ago.
He also told of the warm e-mails they exchanged on a regular basis and the invented names they used as sign-offs at the end of each mail, the last of which was sent just seven days ago and which Eno now realises was a farewell to his old friend.
