Pic: This is how much the average fan spends per day at the world’s biggest music festivals

Worth it though, right?

Conor Heneghan

Coachella sounds great, but it sounds bloody expensive too.

Festival season is very nearly upon us and while we’re looking forward to a summer of great music, we’re not looking forward to the big hole the events are likely to burn in our pockets.

Standard procedure after a festival is to avoid checking your bank balance for at least a week afterwards, but for those of you who insist on counting your pennies, the following information might be of interest.

Travel money site No.1 Currency collated the costs of attending some of the most well-known festivals around the world and compared them under a number of categories, such as ticket prices, the price of food and booze, accomodation etc.

Coachella, which took place in California over the weekend, came out on top as the most expensive, followed closely by Tomorrowland, while our desire to make a trip to the Exit festival in Serbia has only increased after discovering that you’d get by on £54 (approximately €75) a day.

The Sonar festival in Spain has the cheapest booze at just £0.74 (just over €1) for a beer, while you can tuck into a meal at the Open’er festival in Poland for a little over four quid (approximately €4.26).

Bring on the summer.
