Radiohead release their previously unheard theme tune for Spectre as a Christmas present to us all

Carl Kinsella

Not a conventional Christmas tune.

Today, Radiohead surprised their fans by releasing the song they wrote for this year’s James Bond film, Spectre.

As we all know, the producers chose to go with Sam Smith’s song instead – but after hearing this track, we can’t understand why.

Radiohead’s hauntingly powerful ‘Spectre’ is classic Radiohead with all the big, brass, brashness of a James Bond banger. You need to listen now.

Radiohead released the track on their Soundcloud today, and posted it to Facebook with this message:

Last year we were asked to write a theme tune for the Bond movie Spectre. Yes we were. It didn’t work out, but became something of our own, which we love very much. As the year closes we thought you might like to hear it. Merry Christmas. May the force be with you.
