VIDEO: Ireland’s first Irish language festival can’t go ahead without your help

JOE

Níl sé fairailte!

A new Dublin music festival with an emphasis on the Irish language will take place this summer, but the organisers need your help.

Ravelóid is set to be the country’s first ever Irish language-based music festival. However, the event is at risk of being cancelled before it’s even started.

Organiser Tomaí Ó Conghaile told JOE that ticket sales are going in the right direction but a push to bring the festival to as many people as possible is still needed.

“There is a massive amount of goodwill towards the festival, we just have to turn that positivity into ticket sales,” he said.

“Not only would Ravelóid be a wonderful statement about the vitality of the Irish language in 2016 but it also promises to be one amazing weekend… ar aghaidh linn!”

Acts such as Delorentos, Heathers, Mundy, TG Lurgan and many more are set to take to the stage on 10 and 11 June 2016 at Ardgillan Castle in Balbriggan.

Tomai and his fellow organiser Aodhán explain why they set it up and what needs to happen for an Irish language revolution to take place this summer.
