19-year-old Nanami Nagura, from Tokyo, managed to bag herself the Air Guitar World Championship with two extremely energetic performances.

Performing under the stage name ‘Seven Seas’, Nagura won the event in the city of Oulu, Finland, last Friday night.

So how exactly does the Air Guitar World Championship work and how do you win? Well, performers compete in two one-minute rounds ‘playing’ one song of their choice and one chosen by the judges. The contestants are then judged in four categories – miming, technical merit, stage presence and presentation.

Fair play to the 19-year-old for winning the 19th edition of the contest and for her troubles, Nagura also won a handmade electric guitar. Now, here’s the winning performances in question…

Here’s a look at what the official World Air Guitar page has to say on YouTube: “The Air Guitar World Championships has been celebrated in Oulu, Northern Finland annually since 1996.

“The purpose of the Air Guitar World Championships is to promote world peace. According to the ideology of the Air Guitar, wars would end, climate change stop and all bad things disappear, if all the people in the world played the Air Guitar.”
