I’ve got a feeling that Vedder is a better man than most…
Once upon a time, 1992 to be exact, Pearl Jam fan Joe Wolfe met the lead singer of his favourite band, Eddie Vedder from the supreme Pearl Jam, at a movie theatre in Ohio.
Now JOE would seldom lose our professional decorum around famous singers but Vedder is just so downright cool that we would find it almost impossible to keep our fan-boy love for Seattle’s finest intact (cue the eternal Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden debate).
This fantastic story about how Vedder treats his fans made our man love grow even more.
Wolfe said of his meeting with the band in ’92, “I ran into Vedder and the band when they all went to the theatre to see Wayne’s World. There weren’t camera phones back then and he said he would do a picture with me the next time I saw him.”
The singer fulfilled his promise 22 years later but not before Wolfe ran into Pearl Jam’s frontman once again in Cincinnati. Vedder didn’t take a picture with the fan then also because he mistook him for another person who actually stole his cigarettes at the cinema where they first met.
Vedder made amends though to Wolfe during a recent concert where he told the story on-stage and explained why he didn’t take the photo in Cincinnati.
After the recent concert, Vedder finally got snapped and he also gave the fan a hug, an autograph and a guitar pick.
What a man.
Here’s the story in full straight from the mouth of the Pearl Jam frontman just before he launches into a blistering version of State of Love and Trust.
How wonderfully appropriate.
