This is an excellent initiative.
Anything that encourages safer driving in Ireland is to be welcomed and in the next fortnight, iRadio’s excellent and award-winning ‘i is the Limit’ campaign will be returning to Irish roads.
The concept is a very simple one: Drive safely and you could earn yourself €100 in sweet, sweet cash.
Over the next two weeks, the iRadio Opel Adams will be out and about across the 15 counties covered by iRadio armed with RSA and Garda approved Speed Guns aiming to record drivers who are traveling at or under the speed limit.
Those 15 counties, in case you were unaware, are Galway, Mayo, Leitrim, Sligo, Roscommon, Longford, Donegal, Cavan, Kildare, Laois, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly and Westmeath.
During live links back to the studio through the day, the iTeam will reveal the details of the cars they’ve seen driving safely on the region’s roads.
The driver of the vehicle will then have 60 minutes to find somewhere safe to stop and call the station to confirm their identity. Once they do, they’re €100 richer.
The campaign has the support of the Garda press office and is being supported by CoverInAClick.ie and InsureMyVan.ie, both of whom have come on board this year with a campaign that has won a PPI Radio Award in the past.
It’s a very commendable initiative on iRadio’s part and is definitely to be welcomed, which it will be, and heartily so, by those lucky enough to get their hands on one hundred quid.
Stay safe behind the wheel folks.
