Well it’s about bloody time.
That barbeque that’s been gathering dust all summer long may finally be of use next week, with reports suggesting that Ireland will experience an Indian summer next week.
Somewhat ironically, the good weather is due to arrive on the day after the final day of summer, which has been a bit of a washout in these parts, particularly compared to the last two years.
Met Eireann forecaster Siobhán Ryan told the Irish Times that next week should be “dry, settled and calm, with little or no wind” and temperatures set to hit 18 degrees.
Granted, it’s not exactly a heatwave, but we’ll take it.
A high-pressure zone known as the Azores High is set to move northwards toward Ireland early next week so festival goers on the way to Electric Picnic might be advised to pack the sun cream next weekend.
This weekend, meanwhile, is a bit of a mixed bag.
Heavy and thundery showers are forecast for Friday before they become a little more isolated on Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures expected to be hit highs of 16 to 18 degrees throughout the weekend.
