The most expensive county to die in has been revealed

Rosanna Cooney

It’s a bleak topic.

For once Dublin isn’t the most outrageously priced county in Ireland, it may be extortionate for everything else but the cost of dying in the capital falls shy of the nation’s most expensive burial rites in Co.Tipperary.

The standard cost of a funeral in Tipperary is €6,310 and it’s not clear in the survey commissioned by An Post Insurance what the Premier county does to its dead to make it so fatally pricey.  Sligo and Clare also clock in as being more expensive than the national standard of €4,062.

If you’re looking for a final bargain the cheapest county to be buried in is Wexford, where a standard funeral costs €3,408.

While the national standards for graveyard plots vary widely your final resting place is a decision of eternal importance and despite being slightly more reasonable for funeral costs Dublin’s inflated property market extends six-feet-under and a plot in Deansgrange cemetery could set you back €32000.

The cost of dying never seemed so high. joesnapchat
