This is a protest to demand attention.
University of Texas students are protesting against the re-introduction of a law that allows licensed gun holders to carry concealed weapons on their campus.
While firearms are permitted, it’s strictly against campus rules to openly carry sex toys or participate in ‘obscene’ displays. Students have responded to the new law, which they feel is absurd, by flaunting large dildos.

“These laws won’t protect anyone. The campus doesn’t want them,” an organiser of the protest, Jessica Jin, told the New York Times.
The protest was widely shared on social media using the hashtag #cocksnotglocks and it will continue into September.

Innovative methods of protest are increasingly prevalent worldwide as social media shares have become central to their success.
