3pts e/w – Stow – Perth 5.10

I may live to regret this but I’m going against Gordon Elliott’s Trendelenburg in this handicap hurdle. I favour the Venetia Williams-trained top weight STOW who, like all but one of these runners, has never won over this trip of 3m 3f.

It’s also an opportunity for a conditional jockey to mark his card and Harry Challoner will have a job on his hands with stiff looking competition. I think his mount has enough guile to make it around safely and to be knocking on the door at the finish. I’ll be having some each-way if he’s more than 5/1.

2pts win – Longliner – Kilbeggan 5.50

The quickened ground suits LONGLINER going by his performance at Cork on Sunday where he wasn’t all that far away, finishing sixth in a large field.

The Gigginstown House runner had been unimpressive up until his latest run and there was enough in that outing to show the four-year-old has a win in the tank.
