Calling a boxer the wrong name once is bad enough, but repeatedly? You’ve got a lot to answer for Ryan Tubridy.
The bumbling television host added another entry to his embarrassing sporting interview collection when he repeatedly called Adam Nolan ‘Andy’ while chatting with the heroic Irish boxing team on the Late Late last night.
Nolan and team captain Darren O’Neill were relegated to the background while Tubs shot the breeze with Olympic medal-winners Katie Taylor, John Joe Nevin, Michael Conlan and Paddy Barnes on the first Late Late of the season, with the boxers rightfully getting the chance to be appreciated by the Irish public.
O’Neill and Nolan stood politely in the background for the majority of the interview, but nobody would have reacted badly had Nolan hit the lanky presenter a box when he did eventually get round to talking to them.
Tubridy called Nolan by the first name ‘Andy’ on at least two occasions and although the Wexford man responded diplomatically on air, he let fly with both fists via his Twitter account earlier today. His responses to some of the replies that came his way also make for pretty interesting reading.

When somebody is calling for Pat Kenny to be brought back you know something’s seriously the matter, but nobody would argue with Nolan on this score. It’s not the first time Tubs has been guilty of an embarrassing faux pas on air, with sport proving to be his Achilles heel on more than one occasion.
Do your research man.
